WOVEN WORDS(단어의 조각들) is a tactile exploration
of language, memory, and identity. The project consists
of twelve-bound flashcards, each featuring a Korean word that resists direct translation into English.

These words carry layered meanings and cultural nuance beyond literal definition, examining how language holds emotion, history, and context beyond the boundaries of the dictionary.

Inspired by Jogakbo, Korea’s traditional patchwork textile, fragments of language and imagery are woven together. To create my own patchwork, I scanned and repurposed painted paper scraps from my art classroom, embracing the beauty of the imperfect and the handmade.

These pieces, layered into the Korean characters, reflect the way language is built—stitched together from history, experience, and emotion. To extend this exploration, blank cards are included for users to document their own discoveries—words that resonate with them, personal interpretations, or meanings that
evolve over time.
